This is one of things we look for with hive inspections to make sure we have a happy queen doing her job. The little white spots, that look like a grain of rice, are fresh eggs. You can also see the different stages of larvae before they cap off each cell for final growth.

Sharing a little information about stings just for awareness. For most people a little sting relief medication is helpful and your on your way. However..., it's not always an instant reaction or the same reaction each time.
These pictures are of my forearm and how a sting effects me. 5 mins after & 24 hrs later. I have steroids on hand and take them right away. John also has reactions to stings so as bee keepers trying to stay safe we also keep epi pens.
It can depend on the person, the area you get stung, what stung you and each time it can be a little different.
As you can see it doesn't stop us from working our bees🐝.

We have 85 Elderberry plants that have been in the ground about a year and some 2 years. We have approx 65 more that John has cut and propagated that will be going into the ground soon. We will have your Elder flower and Elderberry needs covered. They really are amazing for respiratory and immunity health.

These are new queens.... When a hive is strong in spring its best to split the hive. You move half the frames with eggs, larvae, capped brood and bees to a new hive body and add a new queen.

Well winter was rough. We started with 48 colonies last fall and 14 survived. So unfortunately we had to make a trip to a bee supplier to buy package bees to get a jump start on rebuilding. Hopefully most of these girls will be making delicious honey in no time. Nothing like traveling 5 hrs home from Illinois with bees flying all around the van.
