I attended this fundraiser at Restore Decor in Edwardsville last Saturday . I can’t believe I haven’t found this shop sooner and that I didn’t know their story . I thought it was just transforming older furniture into new pieces with paint, but it is so much more! All furniture is donated ( if you have pieces you want to donate!) then, it is painted by volunteers during the week, the owner chooses the colors and styles for them, and the volunteers Amd owner paint them, change out the hardware, etc. Then every Friday evening , they merchandise the shop with the pieces , the owner shops at local stores like home goods and finds accessories that coordinate with the furniture . The accessories are sold at the price they paid for them . The shop is only open to the public on Saturdays, and all proceeds of the sales go to local charities . Bear with me, this is long but so worth the read. Last week the fundraiser was for the manager of the Homegoods store in Edwardsville, and her daughter who were in a terrible car accident on Oct. 3 in Alton. The daughter recently passed away from injuries and the mother is still fighting for her life. I don’t know her personally , but have worked with her several times while shopping, because I am at Homegoods as much as Walmart . Long story short, please donate by purchasing raffle tickets for this lovely gift basket ! And if you like to paint, volunteer ! I will be volunteering to help merchandise the store on Fridays that I have open. The pieces they make are stunning and the prices are so reasonable! Be sure to check it out!
