So sad they are charging outrageous fees to see things now. I understand a small fee for upkeep and maintenance but it’s getting ridiculous!!!

Located in Hilo, this is one of the Big Island's most beautiful and easily accessible waterfalls. 💦

⚠️ It was also once one of the best free things to do on the Big Island. But no more. As of January 2026, there's now a $10 parking fee plus $5 per visitor (for non-residents).

Something they don’t tell tourists about but should!!!

Most visitors think the dangerous part of Hawaii is the ocean. What actually keeps people hospitalized for weeks starts somewhere far more ordinary.

My neighbor Keoni did one ordinary thing before a morning smoothie. Nothing you'd think twice about. Two weeks later he was in the ER, sure he was having a stroke. Three weeks in the hospital. His short-term memory still isn't the same.

He never ate anything strange. What he did wrong is something visitors do here every day. It leaves nothing you could see or rinse off. One young man in Puna spent three months in a coma. He's permanently disabled.

The state had to warn doctors to look harder, because the early signs read like flu. Most mainland doctors have never seen a case.
