// A very long overdo introduction of myself here on Facebook! I’m Mary Kate (MK), owner & founder of MK Interiors. A few fun facts about me:
- I grew up in Athens, GA - Go Dawgs!
- I have loved creating & drawing since I could pick up a pen & discovered my love for interior design in middle school. Scroll over to see sketches of my “dream home” from when I was 11 years old 😄 This led me on a passionate pursuit of getting my degree in interior design.
- For college, I had always planned to go to SCAD. I got accepted, but decided last minute I wanted a regular college experience. I chose to attend Georgia Southern University & received my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Their design program was intense (I don’t miss the all-nighters I pulled), but I learned so much & gained forever friends from college.
- After earning my degree, I got an internship at one of the best design firms in the Southeast, Amy Morris Interiors, which then turned into a full time position. I planted my roots there for 7 years in Atlanta, GA until feeling the pull to launch my own design firm. I’m so thankful for my time there & could never put a price tag on the value of working for such talent & with incredible women.
- The summer before my last year of college, I interned for another amazing interior designer, Ginger Brewton Interiors, in Charleston, SC. I fell in love with this historic city by the beach & had a longing to eventually move to Charleston some day.
- That dream came true in 2022 when I moved to Charleston, SC with my husband & launched MK Interiors. We absolutely love it here!
- I love every genre of music & I really mean every genre - metal being one of my favorites! I believe good music is good music regardless of the genre & I believe the same for design. I don’t love or do just one look. I think every design style is special & looks good when executed well!
- My faith in Jesus is absolutely everything to me. He is my rock, He is my why, & I always want to glorify Him. I believe my best ideas happen when I invite the Creator of all things into my work. It’s an honor to do what I do for a living & I do not take it for granted!
- When not designing, you’ll find me at a concert, cooking healthy creations in the kitchen, lifting at the gym or at a Pilates studio, bio-hacking my health, relaxing on the beach, or spending time with my loved ones 🤎 //
