Baptism Dress for my granddaughter!!🌷I made a baptism dress from my mother’s wedding dress about five years ago for granddaughters 2 and 3. At that time I only used a small section of lace from the bottom tier of her dress. When we found out Anna was expecting granddaughter number 6, I wanted to make a long two tiered dress for her baptism. I had a design in my head and researched many patterns before finally cutting. The bodice and sleeves are fully lined and the lace skirt tiers are attached to a single piece of lining. The skirt was made from the bottom two tiers of my mom’s dress and the bodice and sleeves were made from some of the third tier as well.
Swipe to see the original dress worn by my mother in 1960. It is made primarily of French Organdy with a silk lining and she wore it with a hoop skirt underneath. She purchased it used from the daughter of a coworker.
We found a delicate lace headband on Etsy that was an almost perfect match to the daisies in the dress!
My mom would have loved to see this dress on her great granddaughter and we hope it will be passed down in her family as well!
