Greenzone Hallandale Beach — a mixed-use residential project currently in the design development phase, crafted to bring contemporary architecture and connected community living together.

Defined by clean lines, curved forms, and thoughtfully integrated open spaces, the project envisions a pedestrian-oriented experience with rooftop amenities, landscaped pathways, and activated ground-floor retail.

At SKLARchitecture, we believe architecture has the ability to shape how communities grow and connect. Greenzone represents a vision for a more integrated and experience-driven way of living in Hallandale Beach.

A collection of two single family residences now taking shape.

At SKLARchitecture we design with context in mind and your lifestyle at the center. Every conversation is guided by exploration and intention crafting homes that evolve with you and your family.

Taking a trip down memory lane to our May 2002 feature in The Miami Herald.

At the time, Oscar Sklar had just joined the firm after more than 30 years leading his own practice, coming on board to work alongside his son and our principal architect, Ari. It marked a meaningful chapter in our family-led practice. Our office was based in downtown Miami, where we were renovating Miami’s first high-rise, the 1915 Ralston Building.

We’re proud to reflect on how far we’ve come and the history we’ve had the privilege to help preserve along the way.

Last Friday, our team had the privilege of exploring Hollywood’s rich history on a guided tour with Clive Taylor, Fred Furze, and Karen Albertson of the Hollywood Historical Society.

Not only was it a great team-building experience for our studio, but it was also an inspiring afternoon learning about Joseph Young’s vision for a city that is both beautiful and accessible to its community.

Young’s vision for a “City Beautiful” continues to resonate throughout Hollywood today, and we’re proud to carry it forward through our designs — contributing to a legacy of thoughtful urban and community-centered architecture.

Flashback Friday!

As we wrap up the week reflecting on past work, we’re looking back at two conceptual projects that explored design through context and transformation.

The Bahamas Guest House, developed in 1997 as part of a design competition, was envisioned as a private retreat shaped by its tropical setting, with architecture responding to climate, landscape, and indoor–outdoor living.

The Florida Memorial College Performing Arts Center, designed in 1999, proposed an expansion of an existing teaching auditorium into a performance-focused venue. The concept responded to the natural landscape and campus context while enhancing acoustics, flexibility, and the connection between audience and stage.

Though unbuilt, these projects remain an important part of our design process—ideas from decades ago that continue to inform how we approach new work today.

Throwback Thursday! We’re going even further into the archives—back to the 90s!

A look back at La Provence Bakery in South Beach—an interior that captured the warmth and charm of a classic European bakery. The design embraced an open bakery concept, allowing guests to watch the bakers at work and experience the craft firsthand, blending transparency, aroma, and atmosphere into the space.

In 1999, this project was recognized for its innovative design in the South Beach hospitality division, earning a design award for its thoughtful approach to both space and experience.

A timeless reminder of how design, craft, and atmosphere come together to create places people remember. 🥖🤍

Wayback Wednesday!

As we continue looking back this week, it’s hard to believe this project dates back nearly two decades! The Jackie Gleason Theater, completed in 2006, stands as a meaningful restoration in the heart of Miami Beach.

We led the design of the lobby and public-area enhancement renovation, reimagining the arrival experience while honoring the theater’s historic character. The project introduced a refreshed interior aesthetic with updated finishes, lighting, custom carpentry, decorative columns, curtains, and carpeting, along with key ADA upgrades to improve accessibility at the box office and throughout public spaces.

Blending traditional theater elegance with modern detailing, the renovation reflects an early chapter in our ongoing work revitalizing Miami Beach’s cultural landmarks.

Transformation Tuesday!

As we kick off the new year, this week let’s look back at some of our earlier, pre-instagram projects to see just how far we’ve come! Fuddruckers in South Beach, completed all the way back in 2002, transformed a familiar brand into a vibrant, site-specific dining experience in Miami Beach.

The 200-seat, 6,000 sq. ft. interior built-out occupied a soaring space beneath a parking garage, framed by two relocated historic Art Deco hotels. Circular geometry guided the layout, from the inverted cone highlighting the central meat display to the que line and order counter. Bold colors, Art Deco-inspired finishes, and subtle nods to Morris Lapidus—like the “cheese holes” in the curved bar wall—tie the space to Miami Beach’s unique character.

This year at SKLARchitecture, we wrapped up incredible projects, explored bold new designs, and celebrated the creativity and dedication of our amazing team. From restoring to reimagining, 2025 reminded us why we love what we do.
Here’s to a 2026 full of innovation, collaboration, and inspiring architecture! 🏛️🎉
