Old frame, new life.

A few months ago, I decided I needed to minimize the dust from the old concrete and add some garage flooring tiles. It’s an inexpensive upgrade that is functional and really helps minimize that dust.

Check out this vintage clock cabinet that I refinished. If you are looking to do something similar here is what I did:

1 - Clean it really well!
2- Sand (takes forever but you will have peace of mind knowing the paint will properly adhere to your piece)
3- Clean and remove all the dust.
4- Paint (this one took 3 coats)

I know they sell paint that you do not have to sand prior, but the customer wanted a specific finish, paint. While it does take a very long time to sand something like this, it does leave you with peace of mind that the paint will adhere properly. Whether or not you decide to sand, I would suggest ALWAYS doing a good cleaning of your project before painting.

I recently bought a WEN Air Filtration unit. If you do not have a system and want an affordable option, it has been working well for me. It runs relatively quiet and is extremely easy to install. I chose to upgrade the filters to Micron Activated Carbon Filters. In addition to removing suspended sawdust in the air, the carbon filters really do help to eliminate some of the harmful fumes and unwanted chemicals in the air. I made two custom garden signs out of a slab of hickory. Hickory is a great wood for exterior use. The sign is uniquely finished with a live edge garden stake crafted from the same slab which carries that live edge look straight into the ground. Hope you like it!
