Flossmoor School District 161 recently gathered at Idlewild Country Club to celebrate this year’s retirees, and it was truly a lovely afternoon.

District administration shared heartfelt words honoring the incredible impact each staff member has made over the years. Stories were told, laughter filled the room, and so many meaningful memories were revisited. It was an afternoon that reflected not only years of dedication, but also the strong friendships built along the way.

Thank you to our retirees for your commitment, care, and lasting contributions to our students and community. You leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. Wishing you all the very best in this next chapter.

Bring the kids out for a day of big trucks and big fun!

Join us for the Homewood Public Works Open House on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. This is a can’t-miss event for little ones who love to explore, climb, and get hands-on. Kids can check out the trucks up close, tour the Public Works garage, play in the sandbox area, and enjoy something to eat along the way.

It’s a fun, family-friendly way to learn more about the team that keeps Homewood running every day. We hope to see you there!

The Village of Homewood has recently become aware of fraudulent emails being sent to business license and permit applicants by individuals impersonating Village employees. These messages are part of a scam designed to deceive recipients into providing sensitive information, clicking malicious links, or sending payments to unauthorized parties.

Please be advised of the following important information:

• The Village of Homewood will not initiate permit or business license communications requesting payment via unsolicited email.

• All official payments related to permits, licenses, and other Village services are processed exclusively through the Village’s SmartGov platform.

• Legitimate emails from Village staff will always originate from an official email address ending in .gov.

• Do not click on links, download attachments, or provide personal or financial information in response to suspicious emails.

• If you receive an email that appears questionable or you are unsure of its legitimacy, please contact the Village directly at (708) 206-3856 before taking any action.

Residents, contractors, and business owners are encouraged to remain vigilant and exercise caution when receiving unsolicited communications related to Village business. The Village of Homewood is actively monitoring the situation and will continue taking all appropriate measures within our authority to help prevent fraudulent activity and protect our community.

DON'T FORGET! 🍩

The Homewood Police Department will be participating in Cop on a Rooftop THIS Friday, May 15, from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. HPD will be at Dunkin’ located at 17579 Halsted St. in Homewood. Officers will be outside of Dunkin’ and in the drive through greeting customers and sharing information about Special Olympics of Illinois.

Cop on a Rooftop is a partnership between local law enforcement, Dunkin’, and Special Olympics Illinois. Cop on a Rooftop raises funds for Special Olympics of Illinois and athletes will receive 100% of the all of the donations.

Any customer who makes a donation will be given a coupon for a free coffee and donut. Also, we will have mugs for $10, hats for $15, and shirts for $20.
