Laura, Whitney & Marie who are three of the four board members are currently finishing up their service trip to Kenya. In this past week they have taught 1700 students about fire safety. These children learned for the first time how to stop, drop and roll along with other fire prevention and safety tips.

The team also fortunate enough to bring over 3500 pencils for the students!

One of the key initiatives for this years fundraiser is to assist families with the costs associated with activities for kids.

I (Laura) was a single mom for the bulk of my daughters childhood. My daughter loved sports and she was a natural athlete. She played soccer, field hockey and a little bit of hockey. If it wasn’t for her grandpas assistance in paying for all of these activities, she wouldn’t have been able to do them. There was no way I would have been able to afford the high costs associated with both the local and travel teams she played on. I can’t begin to put into words how excited I am that LJW Gives is making this a priority.

When I went to Turkana, Kenya in 2014, I didn't have a sponsor baby from there (my girl is in Zambia). When there were whispers of a 2018 trip to Turkana, I knew I needed to add another sponsor baby to the mix. This is Jemimah & she currently goes to school in Turkana at MoHI & I CANNOT WAIT TO MEET HER. ❤

Yes, there is significant need in our country, which is why I'm involved in many organizations in the states. BUT there are also sweet little girls like Jemimah that need our thoughts, prayers, & ACTIONS.

🗣 Donations raised at this year's LJW Gives fundraiser on March 10th will help send people over to Turkana this summer PLUS fund scholarships for kids sporting leagues AND help create care packages for local kiddos in foster care.
