Well the neck surgery went well but for it to fuse its going to take a while so im in this neck brace for at least 2 months with no work. Orders are piling up and I want to work but I have another month off. I think im going to try some light stuff in a few weeks.
The Starfish sculpture came out great and I'll get a photo of that piece up soon.

This was a project I did for Sandals Resort in Jamaica. Its my rendition of a Japanese Temple bell in Fiberglass. It was made for a Japanese Steak house at one of their properties. I first took styrofoam sheets 2" thich , ripped them to 8" wide cut an angle on both ends then glued them together on a 5' plywood circle like an igloo until it was 7 ft tall then motorized the platform and trimmed off the sharp edges until I had it smooth, wrapped it in cloth, put 7 coats of polyurethane, added all the detail in foam strips, more poly, then drywall compound over the entire surface, sanded it smooth more poly. Sprayed it with parting agent and mold release wax then layed it up with gel coat and fiberglass and made a mold then made the part (a bell) then built an inside so it appears to be 5 in. thick installed a light and defuser, crated it and shipped it to Jamaica. It was incredible as a project and I do have extensive background in Fiberglass and mold making as well as copper. So I still have the mold but am not sure if I want to make another or if anyone needs one.

Weathervanes are something I really like doing. They can be whimsical or stylized reality and have a use other than just looking good. I take a lot of time in creating one of these Copper Sculptures and there is a fair amount of engineering in … Continue readingWhich Direction is it coming from?
