While wandering the streets of Kyoto, I stumbled upon a little shop. Tucked away at the back is a tiny rock garden, where you can enjoy matcha in a bowl of your own choosing.
I fell in love the moment I stepped inside. Now, a selection of these pieces is available at à la maison!
The size is just perfect: wonderful for matcha, sencha, lattes, or anything you like.

A hidden gem in Japan that I highly recommend visiting.

Nestled on a hillside of a citrus orchard overlooking Sagami Bay in Odawara, Enoura Observatory is a truly unique place where art, architecture, nature, and ancient Japanese culture come together.

Created by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, the site invites you to slow down and contemplate the relationship between humanity, nature, and the movement of the sun.

The architecture is beautifully aligned with the seasons.

At the Winter Solstice, the morning sun travels through a nearly 100-meter-long tunnel, while the Summer Solstice Gallery extends toward the sea, capturing the first light of the day.

With its limited, reservation-only admission, the atmosphere remains peaceful and contemplative.

Just about 1.5 hours from Tokyo, it is a wonderful place to experience a quieter, more poetic side of Japan—surrounded by the sea, mountains, citrus trees, beautiful architecture, and the energy of things from another time.

Murakami Kaishindo — A Kyoto Classic
is a long-established confectionery shop in Kyoto, with a history rooted in traditional Japanese craftsmanship.This past April, they opened a brand-new building right next to their original shop. While the original store preserves a wonderfully nostalgic atmosphere, the new space offers a completely different experience, with a modern design and an entirely new selection of sweets.

The original shop is beautifully retro, with a slightly dim, intimate interior where traces of its rich history remain throughout. Even the staff and the atmosphere evoke a beautiful sense of traditional Japanese aesthetics.

Next door, the new building is simple, bright, and impeccably clean, with a sophisticated modern design. And, of course, the sweets are absolutely delicious!
