Half this floor has nothing on it. The other half is covered in straight lines running edge to edge.

Those lines only show up when carpet fibers actually stand back up after a real extraction pass, pulled straight and combed by the machine as it moves through. Fibers have to be lifted clean from the base to hold a line like that.

Foot traffic flattens them back down within days, so a floor that's lost its lines has usually gone a long stretch without a real clean.

What darkens it is soil that worked its way down past the tips of the fibers, where a vacuum pulls air across the top and never reaches.

The cushions on your lanai look fine to you because you see them every day. This is what came out of one of them.

Outdoor fabric sits through sun, rain and salt air, holding all of it down in the foam where wiping the surface never reaches.

So we take every cushion off the frame and run hot water through it on the machine, then pull that water back out. They go back on the same visit.

Not every carpet cleaning job happens on solid ground. This one was a boat tied up in the harbor, with the extraction equipment carried dock to deck and back for every rug on board.

Two hand-woven pieces like these live below deck, catching salt air, foot traffic, and everything else a life on the water carries in. We brought them up top, gave them the same care we'd give any rug in a living room, and set them out in the sun to dry.
