Kristen Veenstra is a Minneapolis based designer specializing in kitchen, bath, custom cabinet design, as well as creating thoughtful and well planned interior spaces throughout the home. and began working in the design field after completing an education in interior design in Alberta, Canada. She has lived in the Twin Cities for a decade, and has worked for award-winning firms, as well as been r

ecognized locally for her own work. Her years in the design field working alongside respected and influential designers and builders provided a great foundation of knowledge, as well as the confidence to go out on her own. Kristen Veenstra Design was established in 2017, with a desire to serve clients by providing excellent, detail-oriented and thoughtful designs. Her style is classic, yet approachable, striving to reflect the client's personality and give a timeless appearance within each space. Kristen welcomes projects of all sizes, from small updates to complete home renovations.

LIFE // lately….has been a fun mix. Three project starts have me excited to implement design plans that have been in the works for a while and are worth the wait. Deep in the details with drawings and specs, amid preparations and props for a photo shoot happening in a couple of weeks. Currently grateful for fabulous vendors and contractors who keep things running smoothly, and a fancy event with friends to celebrate the industry. Fall, you’ve kept me on my toes! 🤎🍂

Seasons shifting and cooler temperatures always take me back to the rich warmth of this project, completed about six years ago with . We ventured into a warm black for the cabinetry, just when richly saturated color was starting to take hold in kitchens. I still love the statement this kitchen makes, proving that the right color choice, even when bold, can ground a space and provide dramatic neutrality. Color is Benjamin Moore Cheating Heart 🖤

The perfect place for weekend rituals. This spot has both slow morning coffee and full on entertaining covered. We closed off a doorway (and opened up a bigger one) to carve out space for a dedicated beverage center, complete with a concealed fridge and space to display meaningful pieces. I’m so pleased with how this capture shows off all of the details. More stone shelves and vintage silver in future projects please!

Special delivery today, and the perfect way to close out the week. This project was a study in balance and layers, seeking to integrate fresh new ideas and modern function within a home that already had a very dynamic voice of its own.
