TABLE DE PATISSERIE
Iron and brass with rouge (French for red) marble top
So here is her story (partially made up by me). Once upon a time this fine table resided in a small patisserie in a quaint little town in France. She showcased scrumptious handmade pastries for loyal customers to enjoy every day. Upon retirement, she traveled "across the pond" to America where she found herself in an antiques store near Birmingham, Alabama. A lovely lady took her home where she was lovingly cared for over twenty years.
Now the rest of the story is all true. I have searched for a French pastry table for years. I see a lot of the ones with the iron legs on each end; however, after I saw one of these beauties with the curvy legs and brass in a magazine layout a few years ago, I was hooked on this particular style. So I have looked...and waited...and waited. I could hardly believe it when this one popped up on my Marketplace search. I called. Someone was already coming to look. I waited. The owner messaged me that the person did not buy it. What! Was she crazy? I didn't care. How far is it from Hot Springs to Birmingham? That far? Let's go! After a rainy 400 plus mile trip, I finally laid eyes on her and she was "the one".
The best part...We met the nicest couple with the most beautiful collection of European antiques. What's that saying about good things coming to those who wait? I guess that's the way with old furniture and new friends.
Note: This table is NOT for sale. She will now be cherished in my own home.
