I am Denise Stefanko, the owner of Morning Glory Mercantile in Prudenville near Houghton Lake in beautiful Northern Michigan. I retired from a corporate job in 2014. Shortly after that my husband Joe, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and I moved to 140 acres near Houghton Lake and purchased Morning Glory. If you are looking for Home Décor, a gift for that special person, casual clothes for a day at the lake or a night out, or just that unusual item that you just cannot live without we can help you out. We also have a DIY area where we sell Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint, Roycycled Treasures decoupage papers, and IOD products. Before purchasing the store, I had a side hustle for 15 years selling vintage and painted items. The business name was Denise’s Dream. It was literally always a dream to do this full time. She had a small modest home, but she had a knack for finding the most beautiful antiques for a dime. As a child, I loved to look at her finds and listen to her stories about how she acquired them. My dream has been realized and I wish my grandma was here to share this with. I would give her a cup of tea, she would cross her legs, lean forward with interest, and we would share stories of how we acquired beautiful things to put in our homes and yours to enjoy. Just a glimpse into my dining room.

My Polish Pottery collection makes me happy. Been collecting for 35 years. Bought my first piece, a butter dish, in Frankfurt, Mi.

Bought the painting at the Flint Art Fair 40 years ago. It was love at first site, but, was expensive for the time so almost passed it up. But, spoke to the artist, a very interesting Asian young man. I saw the connection between him and the painting so had to have it.

The fireplace front I got at a house sale also a million years ago. It is one of my favorte pieces. But what I really remember is how absolutely lovely the woman that I purchased it from was. She had a tiny house but decorated perfectly making every inch count. It was absolutely a reflection of her. She was a lovely soul that I still think about all these years later.

This is one of the joys of buying old or hand made things. Each piece has a story.

This Wise Owl Tonic is fabulous. I use it on clean wood and metal, oh, on my leather boots too. Ya gotta try it!
