We are finding it hard to resist lanterns over here at Trackside Treasures Amelia.
This one has a special story…
Starting in 1886, at Bryn Mawr College in PA, incoming freshman are given a lantern featuring an owl. The owl represents Athena, the goddess of wisdom and learning. This tradition continues to this day.

Stop by to learn more.
Our lantern is post 1937, it features textured green glass, fabulous patina, and the original chain.
This one is special.

Another Railroad lantern! This one is an Adlake (Adams and Westlake) from N&W (Norfolk and Western) RR.
Most likely pre 1920’s era, possibly around 1880.
She no longer has any glass, and clearly has been through a lot. She looks beautiful to me!
