BIG NEWS FROM THE GILDED BURROW

We are officially expanding!

The Gilded Burrow is taking the next step and becoming a physical brick-and-mortar spot alongside our online shop. We have secured a booth in the brand-new antique/vintage store, The Sandy Pearl, located right on Broadway in Galveston.

We are so thrilled to bring our curated vintage finds and unique treasures to a physical space on the island where you can shop them in person.

Stay tuned, full details on the grand opening and when you can come visit our booth will be announced later in August.

Thank you all so much for your support in making this dream happen. We can't wait for this next chapter on Broadway!

Scored a massive haul of vintage linens and hand-stitched doilies yesterday, and they are currently getting some serious TLC!

They’re pulling an all-nighter in a deep soak right now, and let’s just say... the water is already looking pretty wild after just a little while. 😅

I'm not dropping the photos just yet, but get ready. Tomorrow morning I’m posting the official before-and-after transformation (and the wonderfully gross water reveal). You're not going to want to miss how these beauties clean up!

✨ Big news for this weekend’s show! ✨

When I went to get my official DBA today, I crossed paths with some incredible women raising money for CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere). If that name sounds familiar, it’s because they are the historic organization that created the very first "CARE Packages" back in 1945 to send relief to World War II survivors. Today, they do life-changing work fighting poverty and empowering women and girls in over 100 countries.

I made them a promise on the spot: A portion of all my sales from this weekend’s show will be donated directly to CARE. 🤎

Every piece you take home from my booth this weekend won’t just bring a little story and beauty into your space, it will also stretch across the globe to help someone in need.

Come out, shop with a purpose, and let's make a difference together! I can't wait to see you all there. 🫶✨

💡 VINTAGE MYSTERY SOLVED: The Secret History of Aladdin Alacite! 💡

Take a look at this absolute showstopper that just landed at the shop! At first glance in normal light, it looks like a gorgeous, elegant 1940s Art Deco vanity lamp. But turn off the lights, bring out the blacklights, and things get really interesting. 🔮✨

This is a genuine Aladdin Alacite electric table lamp (Model G-267) from the early 1940s. Alacite is an ivory, semi-opaque glass developed by the Mantle Lamp Company in 1939. But did you know there are TWO different secret formulas for this glass?

Here is how you can tell them apart using science:
➡️ The 395nm Wavelength

When we screw in a standard 395nm blacklight party bulb, the lamp base instantly transforms into a beautiful neon green. Because 395nm bulbs have a bit more visible purple light bleed, you get that classic, moody, retro glow-in-the-dark vibe.

➡️ The 365nm Flashlight THE MONEY SHOT!

When we hit it with a true 365nm UV flashlight, the magic really happens! Because 365nm light is completely invisible to the human eye, there is zero purple glare. The background drops to total darkness, and the lamp punches through with a jaw-dropping, crisp, radioactive-level neon green.

🟢 Why does it glow? 🟢

This incredible reaction proves it is the highly coveted "Old Formula" Alacite manufactured between 1939 and 1942. The original recipe used a small amount of uranium oxide to achieve that creamy, rich alabaster color!

By 1943, the U.S. government stepped in and seized all domestic uranium supplies for WWII (the Manhattan Project), forcing Aladdin to change their formula. "New Formula" pieces look identical in daylight but won't glow a single bit under a blacklight. This gorgeous survivor is definitively a pre-war treasure!

From its beautiful, sculpted daisies featuring fiery opalescent edges to the crisp, molded leaf draping down the sides, this historical beauty is pure magic.

The best part of curating for The Gilded Burrow? The personal keepers! 😅

I found these absolute treasures while sourcing in Beaumont recently. The classic uranium glow on my new Fenton bear and the fiery cadmium and selenium mix in my glass slipper collection is just pure magic under the UV light. 🔦 Sometimes you just have to treat yourself!

What is a recent find you absolutely refused to part with? Show me your keepers in the comments! 👇
