A little story about my best friend and what she did to protect Texas Children.

Hello, most who read this don’t know me but my name is Stacy, Shellie is my best friend (more like my sister) for over 20 and I wanted to share something with you. Here goes….
You may know her in different ways—as a friend, coworker, neighbor, or family member, or teacher. I have the incredible privilege of calling her my best friend, and I hope after reading this you’ll be reminded of just how fortunate you are to know her. There are some things about her that most people will never know because she never talks about them. She doesn’t do good things for recognition—she does them simply because it’s who she is.
Today I’m going to brag about her and I hope you take the time to read the full post and attachment about what she did for many children.
Most people will never know the countless hours, sacrifices, and emotional weight that went into helping protect children in Texas. That’s because she never sought recognition. In fact, she didn’t tell anyone what she was doing or what she was working toward. She simply saw something that needed to be done and quietly did it—with integrity, courage, and an unwavering commitment to protecting children.
What makes her courage even more remarkable is that she was terrified. She had never set foot in a courtroom before, and the thought of testifying was overwhelming. But she chose not to let fear make the decision for her. She put her fears aside, found the strength to stand up, and used her voice to fight for children across Texas. That is what true bravery looks like—not the absence of fear, but the willingness to do what is right despite it.
This isn’t unusual for her. She has always been the kind of person who quietly gives of herself, often putting the needs of others ahead of her own and sacrificing time with her own family to help someone else. She does so many acts of kindness that no one ever hears about (including me) because she never does them for recognition or praise. She simply does what she believes is right and because of the caring person she is.
She is one of the bravest, strongest, and most selfless people I have ever known. Watching her be part of making Texas a safer place for children has filled me with more pride than I can put into words.
The world needs more people like her—people of integrity who quietly change lives because it’s the right thing to do, not because anyone is watching.
I am beyond blessed to call her my best friend/sister. I love you, and I hope you know how deeply admired and appreciated you are. Texas children—and their families—are safer because of your courage, your integrity, and your heart. I couldn’t be more proud of you. ❤️
