Artist: Robin Baker

Artist Statement

As an artist, I tell stories through the eyes of the common man. I have always been intrigued by the human form and the inherent duality of the human condition and how it relates to nature. This fascination, coupled with vision issues where I see mostly shadow and light has led to my life long exploration of various aspects of the body in nature. This process results in work that visually presents the high contrast duality of everyday objects and situations.

BIOGRAPHY

Visual Artist, Robin Baker, is a Houston, Texas based painter. For most of his artistic career Robin has been inspired by scenes of everyday life in Texas. Much of his work is filled with the human form and nature. Growing up in Houston, Robin was surrounded by the diverse culture of the region. This has enabled him to explore and appreciate a multitude of themes and topics in his work. Robin Baker, a self-taught artist, whose work can be best described as figurative abstract, works primarily in black and white acrylic. Vision issues that cause him to see mostly shadows and light, result in high contrast work, turning a possible disability into something positive.

Art Market: Saturday, October 12th, 11a-3p , 617 Fairview

Artist: Hannah Curran
My goal as an artist is to capture the beauty of the natural world, including its people and their differing faces, and feelings we all share as humans. Using oil, ink and found objects, I want my art to move the viewer, making a human connection. Do you feel like I do? Do you see what I see? These are the questions I have for you all.

My name is Gerald Floyd Jr.. I’m a cap designer based in the Historical Neighborhood of 5th Ward. My emphasis is on highlighting the greatness in our City of Houston. I have a passion for representing our community through personal expression, creating a statement through fashion and giving back to the areas that provide for us. What started with a Montrose Neighborhood cap with a heart pin on it back in 2013 has grown into an expression of love for all parts of this city.

After such a positive response from my first cap I started making caps for the Montrose and 5th Ward neighborhoods, launching my first official product line of hats in May of 2023. Wherever you reside in this beautiful city of ours, we have custom designs for whichever neighborhoods and landmarks you love. For product inquiries and design requests, contact me at [email protected].

Art Market: Saturday, October 12th, 11a-3 , 617 Fairview

Hi, my name is Annette Smith.
I live in Humble, TX and began working primarily in small format watercolor. I was painting postcards and selling on Etsy. Finding most success with my cocktail recipe cards. I’ve done many commissions for weddings and gifts.
In the last year I began working with oil paint on canvas and acrylic Mono-print on paper.
Most of my prints and paintings are based on personal photos and family memories.
My spare time is spent with my husband, our three dogs and making art and traveling the world.
