Thads Has Officially Closed

After 40 years in Old Town Spring, we’ve closed our doors for the last time. What began with Thad’s vision grew into something beautiful, thanks to you—our customers, friends and neighbors.

Thank you for walking this journey with us, for supporting local business, and for helping us build something lasting. Thads will always be a part of this town’s story—and we’re so grateful you were part of ours.

Thad was 27 when-as the story went-he thought: "I could do that", after visiting Old Town Spring and seeing some of the shops.

He was able to create beauty every day and his mother worked while he was still at his banking job. Every night, he would make $100 worth of stuff to sell out of his dad's garage.

Eventually, he picked up the gnomes and became "The Gnome Shop", and he grew the business from a small shack to a 3100 Sq ft store.

He carefully curated an eclectic collection of high end home decor and accessories, and created a legacy of providing high-quality merchandise with a flair for design.

He was so warm and welcome and many of our customers felt like family every time they saw him. He created a space to get lost in wonder, as you saw which pieces drew his eye. His flair for design made for striking, out of the box displays.

His legacy is everlasting, with people all over the country and (the world) that have purchased (and received) gifts and accessories from this little store in Old Town Spring.

Thank you Thad, for making this store into what it was and will be remembered for.

After 40 Wonderful Years… Thads is Saying Farewell. It is with deep gratitude and a full heart that we announce the closing of Thads.

The decision to close our doors hasn’t been easy, but we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and grateful for every customer who made it possible. We are deeply grateful for the support, loyalty, and friendships that have sustained us over the decades. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without you—our amazing customers.

What began as Thad’s handcrafted vision 40 years ago has grown into a beloved part of Old Town Spring, kept alive through beauty, creativity, and the care of so many.

Since Thad’s passing, Jesse has carried forward his legacy, and none of this would have been possible without the incredible staff who became part of Thad’s extended family. Through changing times and shifting trends, they were the heartbeat of this shop, and we are endlessly thankful for every one of them.

To our loyal customers: thank you for four decades of memories, inspiration, and support.

Thank you all for the memories, laughter, hugs, wonder, and joy that have been shared in our little shop in Old Town Spring.

Let's disco! But make it Christmas!

We always love doing the disco garland and this year we added some lights to bounce all around the room! It's pretty groovy to see in person.

Come check it out and don't miss the annual tree lighting at dusk this evening, which kicks off Home For The Holidays out here in Old Town Spring.
