dern, L. Pearson Design's founder grew up on Mississippi’s charming Gulf Coast. Her passion for the old and the new began in the eclectic city of New Orleans, where she owned a beloved antique shop off St. Charles Avenue. After Hurricane Katrina she relocated to Houston and established her eponymous design studio. Her residential projects span the Texas coast and extend to New Orleans and Telluride. She is currently working on her first collection of custom furniture pieces. Pearson Design has been featured in Luxe Interiors + Design and been named twice to their prestigious Gold List.

The fear with pattern and texture is always the same: what if it doesn’t match. But matching was never the goal.

I love how the marble runs floor to ceiling in this bathroom. For our client’s space it wraps into a barrel vault above the tub, so the whole alcove reads as one continuous shape. An antique light fixture and warm brass finishes bring in just enough contrast to keep the room feeling grand without losing its calm. ✨

What makes this bar area work is that nothing in it was decided by itself. The backlit stone glows because it needed something to compete with a wallpaper that moody.

The brass shows up on the shelf, the lamps, and the stools because one finish repeated on purpose reads as considered, never as collected.

Even the archway wears the same green as the walls around it, so the eye keeps moving instead of stopping at a doorway.

A space like this is not built one choice at a time. It is built by asking what every choice owes to the one next to it. We loved collaborating with Inna Campbell on this fabulous space!
