As business owners, we rarely talk about the hard parts of entrepreneurship.
You scroll through social media and see the wins, the lifestyle, the glam, and the success stories but you rarely see the pain behind the scenes.
You don’t see the countless hours spent pouring into complete strangers, sharing your knowledge, resources, and support, only to be betrayed. You don’t see the unpaid debts, the thousands invested into office space with no one showing up to work, or the money poured into training systems, tools, and opportunities just to watch people quit on themselves.
Lately, I’ve been getting messages asking when I’m going to stop hiding and start recruiting again. The truth? Your girl is scared.
I’ve experienced people taking every resource, training, and perk available, then leaving to join another team while still benefiting from everything I built. Those experiences leave scars.
But while I’ve been quiet, I’ve also been building.
As a coach and mentor, I’ve made money in every industry I’ve entered. That’s not luck that’s ex*****on, consistency, and commitment. This time around, I’m being intentional about who I allow into my circle. I know how hard I go for people, and I simply want that same energy reciprocated.
If you’re new to business and starting to build a team, learn from my mistakes: be slow to hire and quick to fire when necessary. Protect your vision, protect your peace, and remember that not everyone deserves access to what you’re building.
The lessons were expensive, but they were necessary.
