Easter varies widely in celebrations… some keep it simple while others go all out- one might argue the variability in cel ration is much greater than that of Christmas
I was truly shocked when I saw the number of people taking their kids on “spring break” this week. My LO asked where we were going and I was surprised to find out her grade school friends were off to Myrtle beach and Florida and other “exotic” places.
Long story short- we weren’t going anywhere. It never even crossed my mind, seriously. But how do you send your kid back to school knowing the question, “where did you go for spring break?” Is going to come up?
Here’s my spring break/Easter tips:
Easter baskets- dolllar store hands down. I fillled 3 baskets with decent gifts for less than $25 a piece. I added one nicer small gift to each one, which will really make them feel special.
Skip the DIY hunts and find a local church, realtor, community center….Free or very cheap Easter egg hunts are everywhere. Some are better than others, but my kids have loved going every year to different ones.
Daddy daughter dance dress= Easter dress!
Potter park zoo has winter rates… and while the zoo is smaller, and not as many “big” animals, all my kids loved it. It was 100% doable for even the tiniest legs. $5 for adults and $4 kids free parking- November-April. They have a nice park and playground there as well for free.
Ann Arbor Hands on Museum was on the pricier side but we went… it was a hit. The University of Michigan museum is free though! Check it out!
Movie night at home, staying up “late”, special snacks, new playgrounds/parks- all free experiences that kids love and will appreciate.
So long story short, my little will go to school Monday and share that she went to Zoo and the Museum and got a whole Crumble cookie to herself. She will share about going to the movies TWICE because they were matinees- and that’s enough for a first grader.
But if totally go to Florida if we could! lol
