There’s something especially meaningful about designing a home for clients you’ve grown alongside.

We first worked with this family when they were newlyweds. Years later, we helped them settle into a larger home in Brooklyn. And now, for our third project together, we returned to their Cobble Hill home to rethink several spaces as their family grows.

New furnishings and lighting, custom millwork, a place for the kids to play, and a downstairs retreat designed for everyone to gather, unwind and spend time together.

Homes evolve. The best ones evolve with the people who live in them.

Stone going up on the fireplace wall. Built-ins taking shape in the closet. The mudroom lockers installed. A staircase that didn't exist a year ago.

None of this makes it into the final photos. But this is where the project actually lives - in the messy, complicated, deeply satisfying middle.

Patterned tile is a commitment. And I am always here for it.

Done right it makes the room.

The key is restraint everywhere else. Let the tile be the thing. Keep the walls calm, the furniture quiet, the fixtures simple. One bold decision made confidently is almost always better than five safe ones made nervously.

One of the questions I get asked most: when is the right time to hire an interior designer?

The honest answer - earlier than you think.

Most people come to us after they've already made decisions. The floor plan is set. The kitchen layout is locked. The tile is ordered. And then they want help making it feel intentional.

We can absolutely work with that. But the magic happens when we're involved from the beginning - before the contractor is hired, before the layout is finalized, before any permanent decisions are made.

That's when we can actually shape how the space works for your life, not just how it looks.

If you're thinking about it, that's your sign to reach out. The earlier the better.

Work in progress.

Every site visit looks a little different. Some days it's decisions and details. Some days it's this - insulation, framing, wiring running through walls that will eventually disappear behind something beautiful.

This is the part nobody sees in the final photos. But it's the part that makes everything else possible.And none of it happens without a great team of talented trades to bring a vision like this to life.

Glenford is getting there. Slowly, then all at once.

A few things I always think about when designing a bathroom:

🛀 Hardware finish matters more than people think. Brass, nickel, matte black, pick one and commit. Mixing metals can work, but it has to be deliberate.

🛀 Details are what make a bathroom feel designed rather than just finished. A thoughtful piece of art, a considered hook placement, the right grout color. It all matters.

Site Visit Diaries 3: Glenford Project

This one has been two years in the making and we are finally in the best part - the part where it starts to look like a home.

Construction is in full swing and the details are coming in. The built-ins. The mudroom. The fireplace. The moments that turn a renovation into something that actually feels considered and lived in.

This is the phase I love most. When all the descisions we made on paper start to come to life and the final details begin to take shape.
