🐈‍⬛ Islay Appreciation Post! 🐈‍⬛ Islay, the namesake of our shop, just turned FIFTEEN!! 🎂 I do not know how, because she is still just a baby 🥹

Islay (pronounced eye-lah, like Isla Fisher!) is named after a Scottish Island.

I’ve had Islay since she was about 6 weeks old. I was a volunteer at .angell and was feeding the kittens who had JUST been brought into the shelter. I was feeding some other kittens across the room when Islay meowed and meowed at me for attention. I fell in love with her immediately and we took her home to foster her (knowing we would adopt her) while she recovered from a cold and got big enough to have leg surgery to take off her little back leg stump which was likely a birth deformity that needed removal.

Islay is a precious little peanut - she’s sweet, gentle, and such a princess of a kitty. She’s not much of a lap cat and HATES to be picked up but she loves to be brushed and just sit beside you to have someone sit nearby, and she loves to oversee things when I’m working. She’ll turn down a traditional cat bed in favor of a sweater I’m drying or the puffy mattress topper folded up which is her favorite place to sleep.

Many of you ask if she comes to the shop, and she doesn’t! She’s very sweet but I also call her my little introvert soulmate because she likes her quiet time, the shop would be too peopley for her. 😂
