About Us:

Lucky Pearl Interiors is a not-for-profit organization that offers beautifully designed interior spaces to the families in the New York City communities that need them most. Specifically, we work with families living under or close to the poverty line to significantly alter their circumstances. It is our philosophy that families thrive and children learn best in environments that are no

t only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. Our design services look to transform residential spaces to meet each family’s specific spatial needs while creating environments that are bright, calming, and, most importantly, practical. As the Founder of Lucky Pearl Interiors, Mildred seeks to transform and create bright, charming, and, most importantly, practical environments. Mildred has worked on a number of projects, including the renovation of model homes in upstate New York, and in her free time continues to fuel her creativity by designing miniature dollhouses that are modern and filled with unique design elements and beautiful treasures.

The Bramble Cottage porch build is officially starting! The initial cuts have been made, the beams are prepared, and the slate tiles are ready for installation(maybe). I’m so excited to bring this porch to life and even more excited to share every step of the process with you.

Want step‑by‑step build updates this month? Tap the heart so I know.

Here’s a quick layout of the porch. It’s nothing too fancy—just a simple plan to show where the beams, tiles, and stonework will go. I had some fun messing around with AI to give you a peek into what I picture when I look at my dollhouse and think about this outdoorsy space. It turned out really cute! 😊

Do you usually sketch things out before you start building, or do you just jump right in?

I’m excited to share the design plan for the Bramble Cottage front porch - inspiration images, material choices, and the render I created that make it feel possible. Take a moment to explore the complete concept!

Would renders make it easier to visualize your mini reno?

The living room reveal in July had a warm, cozy vibe, and I want the porch to feel like an extension of that atmosphere. I can already see the warm wood tones, natural materials, and charming, lived-in cottage feel. After all, even the smallest homes deserve a welcoming entryway!

Which detail from the living room should inspire the porch: the wood tones, the lighting, or the textures?

I have a fun update😊 (in case you are new here): the porch ceiling is already done! It’s been over a year since I last worked on the porch, but at that time I used these panels to create a handmade, slightly weathered cottage feel, which I still love. Now, it’s time to build everything underneath the ceiling.

Should I keep the wood as-is, or should I add a soft wash to give it an aged appearance?

Before we dive 🧱into the porch build, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate the lovely features already in place! Bramble Cottage has a slate roof, warm-colored siding, a “stone” exterior, and casement windows complete with shutters and flower boxes — little details that give this place its cozy cottage vibe. The porch is going to fit right in with all of this, so stay tuned to see how it all comes together!
I’d love to hear your thoughts—what exterior detail stands out to you the most: the roof, siding, stone, or windows?

This little kitchen is such a fun throwback — a little 90s moment in miniature form. I created it in collaboration with miniatures.com , and honestly… it feels like it could be in the Home Alone universe. With sunny yellow cabinets, floral wallpaper, and that “everything happens in the kitchen” vibe typical of 90s homes, it gives off such a warm and nostalgic feeling— and just the right amount of delightful chaos.

I might be dating myself but I think the 90s were fun! What’s a favorite detail from your childhood home that you would love to see in miniature form? For me, it would be the cookie jars shaped like roosters.

Editing is everything in design - especially in miniatures.
I originally tried adding a lot of little pieces to the sides of this range alcove… and it just looked cluttered and wrong.
These tiny cutting boards ended up being the perfect touch — simple, warm, and just enough.

Do you agree with the “less is more” approach here, or would you have added something else?
