Some things we make because we love to sew. This one we made because of the people it honors. 🇺🇸

We're proud to share that K&N Quilters has donated a patriotic quilt to Wheels for Warriors, a car show benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. It's Saturday, October 31 at Ray's Drive In in Lufkin.

This one is personal. We come from a military family. Our father served in WWII, and all our brothers served over twenty years each in different branches. Some of our kids, nieces, and nephews also served. It was never just a job to any of them. Each came home with pride in what they had achieved and honor at having served our country.

This quilt is bold red blocks framed in navy, with patchwork squares of flags, stars, and stripes. Red is for the courage and sacrifice of those who served, white for the ideals they stood for, and blue for their faithful duty.

**Would you help us give?** Raffle tickets will be sold at the event. Every ticket supports our veterans, and one winner takes this quilt home.

Wow, over 30 new faces joined us in the last day!

Welcome to K&N Quilting. We are so glad you're here.

For those just joining us: K&N stands for Kay and Nancy. We are two sisters who love making quilts and sharing our creativity in a way that helps others. This page is where we share the quilts we create for charities here in East Texas. You'll see photos of each quilt, the charity it supports, how to get raffle tickets, and how much each quilt raises once the raffle is complete.

We've also started a series of instructions for those new(ish) to quilting. In addition to making quilts that support causes who give back to our community, we want to pass on some of what we've learned along the way.

A binding is the last step of a quilt, and it's also the one that takes the most wear.

Some quilters piece a separate binding from scratch. For this technique, we use the backing fabric instead. It's called a rolled binding.

There's no extra fabric to cut or piece. The backing gets trimmed a little longer than the batting, folded over, and rolled onto the front. Each corner gets folded in, rolled down, and pinned before it's stitched into place.

It's a method quilters come back to again and again, especially for baby quilts, charity quilts, and anything that needs a clean, sturdy finish without extra steps.

We put together an 8-step guide showing exactly how it comes together, from the first trim to the last stitch.

Spent a great day at Centennial park with our church family. Congratulations to my good friend Mary Johnson with the Moffett Fire Department for winning the American flag corn hole game we sponsored for Gracepoint Church in Huntington. Thanks to all those who contributed!!!!
