This isn’t for us, but others.
During my senior year of college, I was listening to a message where the speaker talked about using the gifts and opportunities you had to make a difference in others lives. I pondered on the thought and went back and forth but finally decided on what would eventually turn into Hard Knot Designs.
To backtrack, it wasn’t too long ago that my parents bought would be called “One Horse Ranch” or our family home. When bought, there was so much brush and fallen trees that it took over 8 months to even be able to see a clear fence line. That meant that all of those precious resources were being burned. It wasn’t until I heard that message where it finally clicked. I could use that would and some artistic talent to help impact the lives of others.
Immediately I tried to figure out what I could do with it. Would I just cut it up and make firewood to give away or was there something more? It took a week or two but I settled upon the idea that these slices were the perfect size for a set of Coasters! I believed in my heart that I could burn personal designs into them so that families would have personal additions for their coffee table. But, how was I still going to make a difference? That is just where it gets good.
When I began to ponder what all I could do it just so happened to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Being from a family that had survivors in it, I knew that I had to give back. So, for the month of October, 15% of the proceeds went towards the Susan G. Komen Foundation! The rush we felt made it official:
