🎉 Exciting news for Historic Downtown Huntsville!

We're proud to announce that Mortar and Pestle of Texas has been named a FINALIST in the 2026 Texas Downtown President's Awards!

Selected in the Best Renovation/Rehabilitation/Restoration category, this statewide recognition celebrates the remarkable transformation of one of Downtown Huntsville's historic buildings.

Located at 1117 12th Street, the building was once home to Goolsby Drug. Owners Kara Froelich and Carl Pittman have thoughtfully brought new life to this historic property, preserving original pharmacy cabinetry, decorative tin ceilings, and other architectural features while creating a vibrant destination for shopping, gathering, and experiencing local history.

Their investment represents the very heart of downtown revitalization: preserving our past while creating opportunities for the future.

With 155 entries submitted from communities across Texas, being selected as a finalist is an exciting achievement! City of Huntsville -Main Street Program was proud to nominate this project and help showcase the incredible investment taking place in our historic downtown.

Please join us in congratulating Kara, Carl, and the Mortar & Pestle team on this well-deserved recognition! 👏

🏆 Winners will be announced November 4 at the Texas Downtown President's Awards Gala in Amarillo.
