Dustin and his crew recently completed a challenging 4,000-square-foot flooring project that required removing an existing 1/4-inch system that had begun to fail due to poor surface preparation from a previous installation.
After removal, the team installed several hundred feet of 4-inch cove base, sanding and coating it multiple times to create a smooth, durable, and easy-to-clean surface.
The new flooring system included 3/8-inch PIP UV-RP with a smaller broadcast media to achieve the smoother texture the customer requested. Once the surface was cleaned and prepared, we applied two coats of PIP HB 1000 at different coverage rates, followed by a urethane topcoat for added chemical and wear resistance.
This floor was specifically designed to handle severe thermal shock from intermittent liquid nitrogen spills. In the event of a larger spill, the system is also intended to help contain the liquid long enough to reduce the risk of damage to the concrete or seepage into the ground.
A demanding project from start to finish, but Dustin and the crew delivered a system built for the environment and the challenges it will see every day.
