August was definitely a month of learning. Lots of firsts. Lots of oopsies. Lots hard work. But most of all, lots of blessings! So many blessings! I can’t wait to see what September brings.

My sweet bench has been returned, and it looks absolutely amazing! Just in time for the kiddos to head back to school next week! One of my favorite things is seeing children stop to take a little break on their way home, community members sitting and enjoying the view of downtown, and, of course, the husbands who have found a little refuge there while their wives shop.

This time, it came back with an extra special touch: “Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 How absolutely perfect is that?

A simple bench, but it has become such a sweet little place for people to pause, rest, visit, and enjoy our wonderful community. I hope it continues to be a place that brings a little rest and a whole lot of love to everyone who stops by.

It takes a village. And sometimes, you find your village in the most unexpected places. Let me explain.

At the beginning of the year, I connected with a sweet lady on TikTok. She was interested in coming to one of our Christmas tree workshops. Now, if you know anything about TikTok, you know that person could have been a scammer, a poser, or any number of things. Oftentimes, you never even see the face of the person you’re interacting with. So when the night of that Christmas tree workshop finally arrived, it was such a joy to meet her and her family in person. This was someone I had been talking with back and forth for quite some time, and suddenly, there she was, sitting in our workshop making a Christmas tree with her family.

Over the many months since then, we have stayed in touch. and recently, when she offered to drive all the way to Pennsylvania to pick up molds that our store needs to continue offering our Christmas tree workshops, I was honestly in awe. Disbelief. Gratitude. All the feelings.

And she didn’t just pick up the molds I needed. She communicated with the person selling them, made the trip to Pennsylvania, and then strategically made stops along the way to pick up other molds that she thought our customers might love. She has an eye for things. She was my boots on the ground because, as much as I would like to, I cannot be in multiple places at one time.

She also has a few things up her sleeve with what this trip means for her, and I’ll share more about that another time. But for now, look at these beautiful molds. You’re going to see some amazing Halloween mold reveals coming to the store, along with some other treasures she thoughtfully picked out along the way.

And this is why when I say it takes a village, I sincerely mean it. It takes a village to run a store. It takes a village to continue offering products and experiences that people have come to love. I cannot do this alone.

And what makes this story even more remarkable to me? I didn’t even know this woman before this year. Think about that. In a world of billions of people, social media was our introduction. A simple connection on TikTok turned into a friendship, and that friendship turned into someone driving hundreds of miles to help me and our customers to continue doing something we love. That is pretty incredible.

So keep watching, because there are some pretty amazing molds coming your way. And behind every single one is a little story about the people who helped make it happen. It really does take a village. And I’m so thankful for mine.

I have a confession to make… I submitted Our Little Town to Hallmark’s Merriest Little Christmas Town contest and I have to admit I was pretty shocked when I found out we didn’t become a finalist.

BUT maybe things happen for a reason because I think I may have come up with an even better title! America’s Sweetest Hometown sounds even better!

Look what Ms. Lori brought into Pressed Rose! Her latest creation is something truly special! Beginner Junk Journals and Junk Journal Packets!

What makes these even more meaningful is the story behind them. This was a project that Lori and her mom worked on together, with her mom lovingly choosing all of the little goodies that went into each junk journal packet. What started as a creative project became something even more precious: time spent together, creating something side by side.

And did you know junk journaling can be a wonderful creative outlet for helping manage anxiety and reduce stress? There’s something so calming about slowing down, creating, layering, writing, and simply allowing yourself to be present in the moment.

We absolutely love that these journals carry not only beautiful pieces, but also a beautiful story of a mother and daughter making memories together.

Beginner Junk Journals — $14 each
Junk Journal Packets — $8 each

Stop in and take a peek at Lori’s newest creations!
