LDD | Transformation (not finished yet!)

Casa Clara is officially 1.5 years in the making!
When I bought this place a year & a half ago, it looked a bit like this... (keep swiping to see the ‘Before’! )
It’s only midway, but seeing how much has changed makes all the dust and decisions worth it. Building this step by step & I couldn't be happier with where we’ve gotten so far. Removing the entire servants quarters & old cabinets etc. elevated & opened up the entire condo.
Here’s to many more projects, triumphs, and transformations at Casa Clara. Still a long way to go, but are getting there!

Casa Clara ya lleva año y medio de transformación!
Cuando compré este lugar hace un año y medio, se veía así... (¡deslicen para ver el ‘Antes’!)
Aunque apenas vamos a mitad de camino, ver todo lo que ha cambiado hace que el tierrero, el voleo y cada decisión valgan la pena. Todo ha sido paso a paso, con esfuerzo, ¡y no podría estar más feliz con el resultado hasta ahora! El corazón de la casa ya va cogiendo toda la forma.
Por muchos proyectos y cambios más para nuestra Casa Clara. Todavía falta harto por hacer, pero ahí vamos, dándole con toda.

LDD | Farrow & Ball Paints

I’ve always been absolutely obsessed with colors! 🎨 Here’s how the room is looking so far, but I’m already dreaming up what’s next. I envision a rich, beautiful blue paneled wall to tie in perfectly with the colorful pattern in the rug. Playing around with these sample pots to find the absolute perfect shade…. Inspired by Farrow & Balls social posts. What do you think of this vision?

¡Siempre he estado totalmente enamorada de los colores de ! 🎨 Así va el espacio por ahora, pero ya me estoy imaginando lo que viene. Me sueño con una pared con molduras en un azul profundo para combinar perfecto con los tonos de la alfombra. Estoy jugando con estas muestras de pintura para encontrar el tono ideal... inspirada en las publicaciones de Farrow & Ball. ¿Qué tal les parece esta idea?

LDD | Finally! to Fruition ~

The kitchen is finally coming together…the warm wood I picked up from a farm 1.5 hours away from Medellín had that natural, organic look I was going for, combined with the industrial chic high gloss floors & dramatic stone custom island countertops (40 inches as opposed to the standard 35 for a sense of grandness) are starting to bring my entire vision to life. My carpenter has been working so hard to get all the custom details just right & I’m so excited to see it take shape… still a work in progress but wanted to show how patience can actually pay off…

LDD | ¡Por fin! Hecho realidad ~

La cocina por fin está tomando forma… la madera cálida que conseguí en una finca a hora y media de Medellín, con ese look natural y orgánico que buscaba, combinada con los pisos de alto brillo estilo industrial chic y las encimeras dramáticas en piedra de la isla (40 pulgadas en vez de las 35 estándar, para darle esa sensación de grandeza), están empezando a darle vida a toda mi visión. Mi carpintero ha trabajado durísimo para dejar cada detalle a la medida como debe ser, y estoy tan emocionada de verlo tomar forma… todavía es un trabajo en progreso, pero quería mostrarles cómo la paciencia sí da sus frutos 🤎

Emilio’s brings together Japanese & Colombian influences in Provenza: a space that feels rich, intimate, comfortable yet uniquely ‘cool’ …Rustic textures, plush burnt-orange chairs, deep-green banquettes, dramatic lighting, & an open kitchen create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated & inviting.

The food is truly delicious, the presentation is artful, & the service is wonderful. A truly authentic experience (I lived in Tokyo for 3 years after all)!
The ironwork alone is so sculptural…

Emilio’s reúne influencias japonesas y colombianas en Provenza, en un espacio que se siente sofisticado, íntimo y acogedor, pero al mismo tiempo único y con muchísimo estilo. Las texturas rústicas, las sillas aterciopeladas en tonos naranja quemado, las banquetas verde profundo, la iluminación dramática y la cocina abierta crean un ambiente elegante y muy agradable.

La comida es realmente deliciosa, la presentación es todo un arte y el servicio es maravilloso. ¡Una experiencia verdaderamente auténtica! Y bueno… viví tres años en Tokio, así que algo sé del tema. 😉

LDD | Transformation!

One of my favorite transformations at my apartment in El Poblado, Medellín Colombia named: Casa Clara. I removed the walls surrounding the old service area and opened the entire space up, completely changing the flow of the apartment.
The former service quarters became my new guest bathroom, which is still getting another layer of beautiful tile, and the old washer and dryer plumbing became the home of my farmhouse sink and disposal. (Nobody has seen a garbage disposal here 😂 - I ordered it on Amazon and my workers didn’t know this even existed!)
It’s still not finished, but I wanted to share some of the progress that’s already been made. I love looking back at these photos because they remind me just how much we changed. This wasn’t simply a renovation. Reimagined how the apartment lives. 🤍

Una de mis transformaciones favoritas en Casa Clara. Quité las paredes que rodeaban la antigua zona de servicio y abrí completamente el espacio, cambiando por completo la distribución y la forma en que se vive el apartamento.
Lo que antes eran los cuartos de servicio ahora es mi nuevo baño de visitas, que todavía está recibiendo otra capa de azulejos hermosos. Y las conexiones antiguas de la lavadora y la secadora ahora son donde está mi lavaplatos estilo farmhouse con triturador.
Todavía no está terminado, pero quería mostrarles un poco del progreso que ya hemos logrado. Me encanta volver a ver estas fotos porque me recuerdan todo lo que hemos cambiado. Esto no fue simplemente una remodelación. Reimaginamos por completo la manera de vivir el apartamento. 🤍

Some objects don’t need to make perfect sense to earn a place in a room.

I came across this wonderfully strange, hand-built ceramic bird vessel and couldn’t leave it behind.

Turn it around and it becomes something entirely different. Lift the wing and it reveals itself as a lidded vessel. And underneath: Major Branzel, 1973–74, Benicia.

More than fifty years later, it still has personality to spare.

I’m always drawn to pieces that make you stop, look twice, and wonder about the hands that made them.
