We’re called The American Riviera for a reason.
Climate…
Lifestyle…
Architecture…
Granted, it was 100 years ago now that flipped the architectural paradigm… but The American Riviera we became.
Now, 100 years on, with a romance of aging terra cota everywhere we go… like the comforting warmth of the morning’s first cup, we’ve become ‘ timeless ‘ .
Timeless is magical. Not a lot of places, let alone real estate, can make that claim. Authentically.
It’s what drives people to our place in the sun, by the droves. A select few with cash on hand to make a beloved… timeless purchase.
We can build new to look… timeless. But we actually have timeless places and spaces. One’s in fact that require our humility and honor for them.
What’s also true its that sometimes timeless doesn’t embrace modern.
I don’t care what you call it - ‘ Beach Modern ‘ , ‘ Mountain Modern ‘ , ‘ Wine Country Modern ‘ … they all fall in the same round file for me as labels like ‘ bespoke ‘ … or ‘ curated ‘ .
What is really being communicated is ‘ thoughtless ‘ because we didn’t invest the time or creativity to listen and find… this property’s real story. What we say back of house in the ID trades - ‘ furniture by the pound ‘ . Drive the truck up. Weight it. Dump it in the driveway. Collect a check.
There’s a solution.
Timeless can still be timeless with an approach that streamlines craft finishes.
Applies different patinas to age old elements.
Still communicating that this may well be an antique handed down through generations… but it’s ‘current’.
And then… if we want to be ‘with the market’ - we accessorize with things to speak to this or that modern geography.
Listen… to your listing.
Advise… your client.
It has to be said. Without hesitation. So many of our properties DO NOT embrace ‘modern’ furnishings that are collected at outlet malls and delivered by the pound.
It’s time for change. There’s a better way.
