ACT Design got a shout-out! 🥂

So fun to see one of my projects featured by Southwestern Rugs Depot, with ACT Design credited right on the photo!

And don’t let the name fool you. Their rug selection goes far beyond Southwestern style, with options for just about every design aesthetic.

If you’re looking for the right rug for your space, contact me through ACT Design. I can help with size, style and color selection and provide a quote for you.

Pretty exciting to see a little piece of my Black Bear Lake Lodge out there in the design world. 🐻

BEFORE + AFTER ✨

A good reminder that a space doesn’t always need to be completely demolished to feel completely different.

For this Bethesda primary bath, we worked with the existing footprint, cabinetry, countertops and flooring, then transformed the room through color, lighting, mirrors, hardware and finishing details. And, oh what a difference!

The result is lighter, more tailored and much more updated

Same bathroom. Very different feeling.

👇 I added a few more photos in the comments so you can see the details.

🎃 A Tale of Two Pumpkins 🎃

These two green pumpkins have had quite the journey — from Pittsburgh, via ACT Design, delivered to their new owner by boat, and eventually transported to her beautiful Bethesda home. 😊

And then came the message every designer loves to receive:

“Love my pumpkins 🎃🥰🥰”

The green pumpkins maintain the room’s original aesthetic while adding a subtle seasonal touch.

But bringing in a more purposeful autumn feel doesn’t mean scrapping your décor or changing your whole color scheme. A few thoughtful additions can shift the season without ruining the vibe.

Here, all we added were a few orange dried Billy Buttons — just $9.99 for 20 stems — and a golden Sand + Fog candle, a favorite that can frequently be found at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for around $10.

That little hit of orange and gold warms up the greens, creams, brass and natural wood already in the room. Complete the look with a cozy rust or terracotta throw — perfect for curling up to watch some fall football. 🏈🍂

Want to recreate the look?
🎃 Green pumpkins — shop for sage or celadon rather than traditional orange
🧡 Dried Billy Buttons — Afloral, $9.99/20 stems
🕯️ Sand + Fog candle — check Marshalls or TJ Maxx, frequently around $10
🧶 Terracotta woven throw — DEMDACO

Sometimes seasonal design isn’t about adding more. It’s about adding the right things.

P.S. See that gorgeous bench in the background? Another great TJ Maxx find by ACT Design — and an absolute steal at just $99. Sometimes great design really is in the hunt. 😉

Green with envy 💚🎃

Who says fall has to be orange?

A few thoughtful seasonal touches can completely change the feeling of a room without changing the room.

Two sage green pumpkins, a few orange Billy Buttons, a warm golden candle and a cozy rust throw = fall without sacrificing the vibe. 🍂

And these two pumpkins have a story of their own — Pittsburgh → delivered by ACT Design by boat → all the way to their beautiful new home in Bethesda.
