😍😍😍
With it being our birthday month, it’s been 3 years and have never done a proper introduction. Im a private person and would say I lean into the introverted side of the spectrum, but I know SO much about our customers (now friends), their lives, and have gotten so involved in the community in which we permanently run our business, that I feel it’s time to do one.
Hi 👋🏻 I’m Bre, I am the owner of Obsessions Coffee. I’m a mom, a fiancé, and someone who just wanted to find their place. My favorite color is blue and my favorite drink is either a oatmilk cortado or blueberry cold brew. I have 2 cats 🐈⬛ 🐈 I love dearly and a family that stands by me.
I often get asked “how did you even get started with this business?” well, as my mom would say it was just one of those squirrels I just kept chasing. As an ADHD adult I had the supplies for every single hobby but said “hey why not take up coffee roasting” there it is, and now I’m too far in to throw this hobby to the side.
I started the business out of our garage, converting the second floor into a commercial kitchen where the roasting business would take place, soon learned I could not in fact make a living off of roasting itself as overhead is insane, and adapted and shifted the focus on prepared drinks, that’s when the trailer come in, not without its own woes as a mobile kitchen has its own issues - especially during the winter. In the fall of 2024 we were invited to set up at the Homer City magistrate which ended up being one of our most profitable locations, where we met our first angel Rachel from Disobedient Spirits who offered us an indoor space for the winter, logistics didn’t work out but that connected us with our second angel Natalie, Natalie and her husband Larry saved a building from demolition in Homer City that you previously may have known as Arts Sentry Surplus, this building while in bad shape, was part of a bigger vision Natalie had in mind; And lucky for her I’m a bit impulsive so I said heck yeah, let’s do it. And do it we did, we spent 1 year on renovations and in October 2025 Trendy Trades and Obsessions moved into the old Arts Sentry Surplus building, and created the Sip & Shop space, a third space in Homer City where people can work from home, hang out, and get a cup of coffee.
This journey as you may call it has been humbling, amazing, scary, crazy, but also fulfilling. I spent the last 10 years in healthcare (CNA>RN) which burned out my soul, while I was able to take care of some of the most vulnerable, I did not take care of myself and still did not feel like I was impacting the community in a positive way. Since starting this business I have been able to use the platform I have (although still small) to help with community causes, outreach, providing a space for others, and linking up with the Homer City Collective which is a group of doers (so proud of everything they do)
This journey has not been just my own, and it could not have been done without the financial backing for renovations from my fiancé Chris, the hands on help from my dads, the everything help from my mom, and the support of everyone involved big or small. We’ve had hands up from other business owners (you know who you are) and pats on the back from our community members.
When you shop with us you aren’t supporting a mega corporation, you’re supporting small families like mine and the families of my 5 employees. And we appreciate Every. Single. Cent.
Thank you 🫶🏻
