This was such a cute story but also had background high stakes. It felt like the book version of the Stan Lee gif where he's listening to music in the foreground and Spider-Man is fighting in the background. I love Agnes and Havelock; they were immediately bantering with each other in such a fun way and the fact that Agnes was 35??? *Chefs kiss*

I messed up and downloaded both slides as a video even though the first one isn't and then I deleted the post from canva. Slide 2 has my review of which is the second Rile Sager book I have read and enjoyed. Just don't tell Sam. šŸ˜‚

First, thank you NetGalley and Irene Edwards | Author for the opportunity to read this ARC!
Second, ONE OF THE BEST EPIC FANTASY BOOKS I HAVE READ IN 30 YEARS! This grand, sweeping epic fantasy novel took my breath away and made me feel every emotion possible. It's a high stakes political intrigue court-drama with romance sublets that just fit. The characters are tremendous , the world-building is breathtaking. I found it nearly impossible to put down and devour-able in the best of ways. If you're a fan of old-school high-fantasy then you have to read

Lavender and Hemlock comes out November 10 and I am so grateful to be able to read it as an ARC. This was an amazing read! Tansy and Merit were fun characters with flaws and hold-ups that felt real but not too real. Goose chasing after Lady Aster was hilarious and the lighter scenes made it easy to get through despite the rest of the darkness.

It was great to get subtle lgbtqia+ representation and have it feel realistic instead of a big deal. The story itself had unique twists and turns, but there were breadcrumbs to follow and I was able to guess one thing while being surprised by something else.

Thank you Lili Wilkinson and Random House Childrenā€™s Books for the opportunity to read this ARC!

How is this movie 26 years old?! I swear it just came out 5 years ago. I remember going to theater to see Final Destination with some friends and while it wasn't scary then, and it isn't now, it still had me on the edge of my seat. It's been many years since I've watched this but tonight it had me feeling like a teenager again and hiding in my popcorn bucket at the theater.

You're Next was my movie for day 4. It's an independent film from 2011 and is an amazing movie with my new favorite final girl. Erin is a total badass.

Day 3 was a new movie for me, Until Dawn is based ... Or inspired by the video game of the same name. It was pretty good, a few jump scares but the creatures themselves were less scary without the jump scares.
