One of our favorite perspectives from a guest touring The Atelier was, “You didn’t just show an end product, you showed process.” Music to our ears! This room was never simply about beauty - it was about creating something greater.
Our space is full of stories and history; some very special details we want to point out are the framed furniture sketches.
The Aunt and Uncle of the original homeowners were furniture makers based in and the aunt, Jane Jeffries was also an artist who graduated from and was a founding member and President of the Madison Art Club in 1959 - which is still active today. These frames and sketches from their business, Iverness Shop, were found separately in the attic of The Manor on Meridian and you can see these originals, plus two paintings of Jane’s, on display in our space as a nod to the origins of the home and the strong history of the arts in Indiana. And, if you really have an eye for detail, perhaps you noticed them on The Atelier stationery, too! This home certainly has a story worth telling.
