The incense dish is the quietest piece we make. When you love burning incense to create a transition point in your day, the last thing you want is a mess.

I designed the incense dish to hold any size stick upright. It burns evenly and the ash falls into the dish without making a mess on your table or shelf.

At the end of your work day, light an incense. Take a few moments to adjust to the transition and walk into your evening ready to relax.

There’s a specific kind of frustration that comes from standing in a lighting aisle knowing exactly what you want and being surrounded by nothing that comes close. Too basic. Too slick. Too expensive for something that would still feel like a compromise.

Over twenty years ago I built my home inside a 1905 church and nearly lost my mind trying to light it.

I no longer live there but fast forward - couple decades and I ended up at the wheel making the lighting I always wished I had.

These pendant lights and table lamps are wheel thrown and freehand decorated one at a time — glaze crayons, glaze trailing, mishima. Each one is a finished piece of pottery that happens to hold a bulb. Made for the rooms that are still missing their special touch.

Available now in the studio. Coming to the website soon — get on the mailing list.

(And for those of you who’ve noticed, yes, I made the mug Kris is sipping from as she reads)

The Grifter-in-Chief and his coterie of morally bankrupt sycophants are relentlessly working to undermine journalism. From the constant drumbeat of “fake news,” to “quiet, piggy,” to attempting to defund public broadcasting, restricting access to outlets that aren’t Trump-friendly, and filing lawsuits--this administration is attacking real reporting from every angle.

Journalism serves democracy. And democracy serves the people.

Outlander has been one of my favorite series for 30 years and seeing the teapots I made being poured by Claire in season 8 has been a thrill!

In fall 2024 I got a message asking me to make historically accurate yellow-ware teapots and cups for a TV production. I’ve been sitting on this for months.

That production was Outlander Season 8. Claire’s teapot? That’s mine. You can spot it in episodes 4, 6 and 8 so far.

The connection came through Samson’s Historical in Lebanon, Indiana, a living history supplier I’ve been making pieces for. The show’s set designer found the work and the rest is the kind of story I still don’t fully believe is real.

Here’s the part that wrecks me a little. In 1993 I was managing a bookstore when a galley copy of Voyager landed on my desk before it was even published. I had no idea I was holding something that would come back around thirty years later with my hands in the clay.

This month I’m making another batch for Samson’s and I’ll be documenting the whole process here. Follow along if you want to watch them come together from raw clay to finished glaze.

One teapot from the original Outlander batch still exists. I haven’t decided what to do with it yet.
