When it all began

I was ten years old when I developed an interest in candles. My grandmother took my family on a trip to Solvang. “The old Danish town.” We experienced Danish food, culture, and entertainment. We even watched a rendition of the off broadway early 90′s musical Forever Plaid. Yet if you should know anything about my family the highlight of the day was all the shopping we did. Grand

ma made sure we all did our shopping together. I was intrigued by the colors and architecture of this little Danish town. There was cobbled stone pavement, half-timbered shops, and gothic lampposts. We went into many different stores but after passing by a festively dressed Manichean I decided that I couldn’t leave without a pair of clogs. In my search for the clogs we came across a small white candle shop. I was instantly drawn to this candle shop. It kind of reminded me of a small white church. There was something almost out-of-place when you compared it to the other buildings. I walked through the glass doors and I was hit with pleasant aromas almost at once. I remember looking around feeling like I hit the lottery. There were so many different shapes and colors it felt like I was in an art gallery. I left the store with a candle shaped like a teddy bear. I kept it for years with out burning it. Its been years since I’ve been to Solvang but that is when my passion for candles first flikr’d!

We are so grateful we got to be in the first ever Woodcup here Inglewood. This was the first World Cup in Inglewood and we’re glad we got to be apart of it.
