We’ll announce the teachers, workshops and schedule for our elegant and cozy Knitter’s Retreat from the winter chill. Spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday January 8, 9, & 10, 2027 in downtown Lancaster, PA with extraordinary teachers in an extraordinary setting!

Learn to cast on, knit and increase and decrease in this FREE Knitting Workshop! The Sophie Scarf is worked back and forth in one piece, from tip to tip in garter stitch with built-in i-cord edges. The smaller size Sophie Scarf reaches around the neck once, while the larger size can wrap around the neck twice. A yarn purchase is required to participate in this workshop.

What is Knit Night at LYS? A social evening of knitting, community and fun: all small crafts are welcome… knit, crochet, sew, spin, weave…bring your current project or shop for a new project. Make progress on your WIP, get answers to your crafty questions, and chitchat with fun, interesting people.
*Knit Night start time is 4:00 pm and the shop is open during knit night. Bring a chair!

I know it’s still too warm to wear a full sweater, but perhaps a tiny sweater? Just a little teaser of cozy garments to come 😉

We offer expert repair services for vintage and contemporary knits and crocheted fabrics. We can do invisible and visible mends including Swiss darning and patching. Free estimates, call for an appointment. Note: any damaged garments or fabric must be brought into the shop in a sealed bag.

Swatching! (for a Pressed Flowers hat)
It’s important to wash/block your swatch the same way you’ll treat your finished piece so you know how/if your fabric will change. For a large project like a sweater, a bigger swatch would give more accurate info… but hats are small so I’ll risk it with the small one. I am using a needle one size larger than the pattern specs in order to get gauge.
