I bought this painting about 10 years ago. It's a very old canvas (18th century?) mounted on a piece of dense cardboard ca. 1920. I suspect that the margins of the alcove are overpainted. Definitely the front edge of the alcove (bottom of painting). With a black light, you can see letters below the varnish and paint. Often, this is where a signature and some decorative flourish would be. Zoom in on the black light images...What do you think?

Fill with coffee beans from the top and dispense larger quantities from the bottom valve or take scoops from the middle port. 10 1/2" Diameter base x 25 1/2" Tall (to knob/finial). 18" x 24" oil on masonite, ca. 1930s -1940s (?). Fascinating portrait of a young woman near a window. At first glance, she appeared to have a bad case of brown excema. That cleaned nicely and left these unusual facial textures and shadings. No signature. .
