Cracker Barrel-Style Meatloaf Recipe
Ingredients:
• 1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
• 1/4 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
• 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
• 1/4 teaspoon dried sage
• 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
• 1/4 cup ketchup
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon mustard
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
o Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
o In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten egg, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, chopped celery, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, dried thyme, dried sage, and dried parsley. Mix until well combined.
3. Shape the Meatloaf:
o Transfer the meatloaf mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. Prepare the Glaze:
o In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to make the glaze.
5. Glaze and Bake:
o Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
o Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 60-75 minutes, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
6. Rest and Serve:
o Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
o Serve slices of the Cracker Barrel-style meatloaf with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or macaroni and cheese.
