Pottery by Gary Rith

Pottery by Gary Rith There are a lot of boring pots out there, why not have some fun? https://www.etsy.com/shop/Rith In 1985 Gary was Dean White's apprentice in upstate NY.

Gary Rith began making pottery in 1983 as a ceramics major at Bennington College. After several years of teaching, including stints at the University of Illinois-Chicago Craft Shop and Cushing Academy, in 1997 he set up his first studio in New Hampshire and began making pots full-time. In 2006 he moved to the Ithaca, NY area, opened a new studio and taught at the Cornell University Ceramics Studio until it closed in 2011. 30 plus years, still going strong, making something new everyday!

Not a great picture, but yes! As I said, I wanted to make a monster teapot to go with my monster mugs (left) and so made a little drawing (lower left) and made the teapot for an exhibit. But it sold! How unexpectedly early! So I made another and here it is and goes into my teapot exhibit at Hilton Garden Inn Seneca Place Gallery Ithaca this week :)

I am fortunate enough to be featured soon in an exhibit of my teapots etc. This just came out of my kiln, looking super duper! I intended to make a weiner dog teapot, but you know how ideas evolve in process… I put a bunch of different dogs on there! I was smiling when I finished it thinking “dog park!”
