It takes a while to turn a house into a home. It’s still simple, but the last couple of art pieces have made it feel so much more like home. We love living here, love the peace, love the joy of sunsets almost every night, and love the newly found pace of living out in the middle of nowhere (trust us, was hard to get used to at first).

Day 9 - the end of vacation. We’ve been so thankful for the time away from the usual hustle and bustle. Taking it pretty easy, though did plant some pretty little olives by the pond, it is The Olive Tree House after all, and a new little Meyer Lemon and Blood Orange tree. It’s raining 🌧️ and gloomy, but still the most beautiful spot to be planted. Getting ready to slow roast a chicken for dinner. Life is good.

I missed posting vacation day 7 yesterday, so here we are with a day 7 and 8 post. Lunch out on day 7, more lovely fish, this time branzino in a little lobster sauce and a teeny shot of retail therapy at Sur La Table getting ready for the fall entertaining season. Today a trip to our local nursery - for The Waggoners Garden of course. More olives for The Olive Tree House, a blood orange, a Meyer lemon 🍋 and a Chinese fan palm then off to our local, Congaree & Penn for a little charcuterie and glass of wine. Amazing we have such a lovely place only minutes from us when everything else is so far from us.

Fresh scallops and shrimp for linguine tonight. But there might be a nap first. Vacation has been good for our souls (but probably not our waistlines). Rice says hi!
