We’re seeing more plaids and tartans finding their way into interiors lately, and we couldn’t be happier about it. They bring warmth, history, and that collected-over-time feeling we’ve always loved, which has us thinking back to one of our favorite projects from last spring.
When we were invited to create a travel-inspired vignette for the IWCE Artisan Atelier, we drew inspiration from Scotland's rich textiles and heritage. We imagined a well-appointed library — layered, tailored, quietly dramatic, and filled with details that felt as though they had been collected over time.
At the heart of the design was an authentic Scottish tartan, which we used for traditional drapery, with a decorative swag inspired by the way this fabric has historically been draped and worn.
Trends may bring these patterns back into the conversation, but there’s a reason they endure. In the right setting, tartan feels timeless, warm, and wonderfully at home.
And the best part? After IWCE, our vignette was donated to benefit The Green Chair Project, a local organization close to our hearts.
