✨ A Life That Shaped Jasper ✨

🕊️ Remembering Marvin P. Hancock (1896–1983)

He was born beneath these East Texas skies… 🌲
in 1896, in the very county he would one day help lead.

They called him “Mr. Marvin” —
not from title alone,
but from a life lived close to the people. 🤍

A veteran of World War I 🇺🇸
A businessman, a pharmacist, a man of service
A councilman…
and then, for 30 years—
the steady hand as Mayor of Jasper 🏛️

Through seasons of change,
through growth and hardship,
he remained—
faithful to this town he loved.

Even in retirement,
his story did not fade…
but was honored, remembered,
and written into the very streets of Jasper. 🛤️

A historian at heart,
he preserved the stories of those who came before—
so that we, too, could remember.

And today… we do. ✨

At the Jasper County Historical Museum,
we carry forward the legacy of lives like his—
woven into the fabric of our shared past.

If you remember “Mr. Marvin,”
we invite you to share your stories with us. 🤍
