Blueberries? Well, yes, they’re blue, and they‘re berries! Arrowwood Viburnum, a feature in our Pollinator Garden, had lovely white flowers this past spring.

Then pollinators worked their magic, and now the flower heads have turned into nutritious, fat-rich berries . . . just in time to fuel songbirds like Hermit Thrushes and vireos on their fall migration. Though birds digest these treats with ease, we don’t recommend that YOU sample them (you’re likely to get a stomachache). Plenty of other plants at the Gap are loaded with berries this time of year; tell us what you’ve spotted!

We are proud to present the Grand Opening of our Museum's founders and champions of all things Jim Thorpe, John and Janet Drury! John, along with his wife, Janet, moved to our burgeoning town from Philadelphia in 1975. They fell in love with the architecture, history and, of course, the people of the revitalized Carbon County borough.

Both John and Janet were instrumental figures in preserving the history of Mauch Chunk and Jim Thorpe for posterity and advancing their beloved community into the future.

Please join us on Friday, September 11, 2026 for our new exhibit grand opening - Drury's Dream: A Retrospective of a Small-Town Entrepreneur from 5pm to 9pm. Light refreshments will be served. The first 75 attendees will receive a complimentary tote bag.
