Hillside Stitching My name is Hillary....and I LOVE TO CROCHET!!!
... In 2020, similar to many people we all know, I lost my job. Next thing I knew, my shop was born!

Prior to this event, I had muddled with crafting and crochet, however I didn't have a lot of extra time to commit and practice! My family and I decided to take the leap, and I became a Stay At Home Mom of our 4 awesome kids, 3 boys and 1 girl. I started dedicating my free time to furthering my crocheting skills along with other craft projects! I find it to be therapeutic at the end of a busy day.

I love the ability to see other craft ideas, and then turning them into my own. Whether it be a pattern with my twist on it or coming up with my own ideas from a picture, it is fun to see things come to life! I enjoy a great challenge-should you see something you would like recreated, or even created from scratch, send it my way and I will create you a gift you love. I look forward to stitching or making your next piece for yourself or a loved family/ friend. Your decision to include me in your life story is one I take seriously and can promise you will not be disappointed! Currently located in Metro Detroit Area

I thought this project was going to end me 😅

After being asked for a blanket, I told my kids I would do one for each; my eldest picked this pattern!

Little did I know....I knew nothing about mosaic crochet. This blanket took way longer than I care to admit (hello 10 months) because I just wanted to stuff it in the corner and hope he changed his mind.

I forced myself to set the goal of having it done by "new years" and I am happy to report....it is done!!!!

And yes.....I would definitely do it again and feel like I have "leveled up" my skill set! And to see the smile when he uses it, makes it 1000% worth it.

I had a chance to open up my creativity when I was asked to make some throw blankets. These turned out lovely with an incredible texture!

Life is full of chaos, messes, running kids and unlimited hugs and kisses.... and I wouldn't have it any other way❤️ Projects take the back burner and I am continually thankful for the opportunity to create as time allows!

And enjoyed sitting down to stitch this for a special little guy!

We are busy with day to day life, and realize that while I still LOVE to sit down and stitch, there will definitely be time for more in a future season, but this one isn't it 😆

So grateful for the season of being home with littles, all the band concerts, quick get aways, days in the parks, or snuggling up for a movie. Whatever season you're in, I hope it brings just as much joy! ❤️

6 skeins of yarn in....a project I started this summer learning a new stitch....didn't love it as my sides were super wonky and it wasn't very straight..

After:

Yesterday I ripped it all out and I restarted with a better, more textured stitch, and am loving it so much more!
