Specialized Tasks and Restorations, LLC Driven by ADHD and a curiosity to take on new and odd projects, I specialize in the random and unique

When you engage my services, you are hiring a local craftsman that understands old houses, antique lighting, and has a passion for keeping things original. Are your old door knobs wiggly, not lining up, or covered in paint and you want them restored? Do you have an antique (or newer) light fixture, porch light, lamp, sconce that needs restoration/rewiring? Need something simple mounted in stone, brick, or concrete? Whatever your need is, if you don't know where to turn because it's a unique project, reach out so we can discuss if it's something I can assist you with! This is a "side hustle" business, so while I can't take on every project, I would love the opportunity to discuss your needs!

As the kids would say, this is cooked, bruh.

A client off Ward Parkway has this beautiful, vintage, crystal light fixture that's in need of some new sockets and wiring. Time to disassemble!

Just finished rewiring this awesome TV lamp for a customer. This is an Esco-Lite calla lilly design from the 50s. It has a nice iridescent white and spring green glaze accented by bright gold lines.

What's on the bench?! This is a mid-century wood/brass chandelier from a house in the Country Side neighborhood of KC (adjacent to Loose Park). The house is almost all original ranch with pea green linoleum, weeping brick joints, and original 1960s fixtures. The client wants to keep this chandelier but get rid of the frosted hurricane shades with grapes etched on them. Instead, I'll be installing taller porcelain sockets that will last much longer than the original dried out plastic ones that cracked after decades of heat. They will receive ivory candle sleeves and as such we'll eliminate the hurricane shades.

Before and after of a quick spa treatment. Added a chain, it's ready to be installed in my own bathroom! (When there's time, I do things for myself 😅)

Starting work on a few fixtures for a client. This one is the real deal, a gas chandelier converted to electric. At the base where the arms branch out are working gas valves which need to remain open to permit wire to go through. It received a spa day and is ready for rewiring and reassembly!

The floor by the front door of this Hyde Park house I'm working on is almost perfectly level, and over 120 years old! That's solid craftsmanship!

I'm all about easy quick fixes to extend the life of something and keep it out of the landfill. When our vacuum broke, I jammed it back together with PVC cement and a screw to hold the head back on to the body. This will buy us a while before ultimately needing to replace 😉

This mid century tension pole light was in need of a new socket. All fixed up for the client for only $40.

When the homeowners and I couldn't source a 48" wide white oak threshold to replace the one at their front door, I have no other option than to just make one myself 🤷‍♂️

Another random job of the moment! Recently hung some pictures for a client with concrete walls.
