When refinishing hardwood, sand with the grain, never against it. Cross-grain scratches show up darker when you stain, especially on oak and maple.

It's a small detail that makes the difference between a floor that looks refinished and one that looks brand new. Worth the extra attention.

Installed 2.25" Red Oak and stained it Jacobean too match existing. The 2k ceramic reinforced finish will last for.many years even with a wild dog!
